春のバッチャ
青森県の５月は芽吹きの季節です。いつも歩く散歩コースにタンポポやオオイヌノフグリなどの可愛らしい小さな花々が咲いて、ライトグリーンの若い芽がふんわりと木の枝を覆うと、それを見たうちのバッチャは感嘆の声を上げます。
「ろー！ モエ出て、ろー！（まあ、若い芽が出て、ご覧なさいよ！）」
「モエ」は若芽のことです。きっと「萌える」という言葉から来ているのでしょう。萌える５月。木の枝の先から小さな葉っぱが顔を出すと、どこのバッチャも「ろー！」「おんろー、モエ出て、ろー！」と歓声をあげるのです。
冬の間に家に閉じこもっていた近所のバッチャ達も、雪が解けてようやく「わい、あずましじゃ！（なんて心地いいのでしょう！）」と言わんばかりに畑に集まってきました。よそのバッチャ達は冬の間、めったに見かけることがありません。
それなので、春に出会うとお互いに冬眠から覚めたような気持ちになるのです。
春のバッチャは大忙しです。畑の草を抜き、堆肥を撒いて畑を耕し、大量のホッケ寿司を樽に漬けます。84歳にしてこの元気…少し分けてもらいたいぐらいです。バッチャは朝５時頃に畑に出て草を抜き、７時頃には家族にご飯を食べさせるため家に戻ります。
ひ孫を学校に送り出したら、一息入れてご飯を食べ、テレビで速水もこみち君の『MOCO'Sキッチン』を私と見ます。
「おろ〜、あったに高い所から塩振って、ろー！ わい〜、油ゴサゴサと入れて！ あれだば油くせくなってまうべな〜！」
「おばあちゃん、アレはサラダ油でねくて、オリーブオイルだから、そったに油くせくも、ならねえがさもしれませんよ。」
「んだべか〜？」
速水もこみち君の登場する朝は、田舎の主婦である私とバッチャを戦慄させているのです。ふいにバッチャが言いました。

「わい、こんだ（今度は）一体、どった貝だべ！ まんず見たことねえ！」

こんな風に、速水もこみち君の作るカフェ風のメニューは、青森県の片隅に住む我々にとっては再現不可能なお料理として捉えられているのでした。
それでも毎日一生懸命この情報番組を見るのは、もこみち君がいい男だからに違いありません。もこみち君に突っ込みを入れて、ホッと一息つけば朝の９時。畑の苗植えが待っています。
「明日はどったら料理ば作るもんだかさ」と、楽しみにしながら我々は洗濯と掃除をして、畑の草を抜き、子ども達が帰ってくる夕方に備えるのでした。
